Day 2: Stockholm

After an exciting first day, the September 23rd 2017 indeed would be a busy yet wonderful daayyy.. *big smileee*

We started the day by cooking our own breakfast and lunch. Ate the breakfast and then packed the lunch in our lunch box. Heading to the street started from our hostel neighborhood -the famous Gamla Stan!

1

it’s too early baby, the store still closed!

Gamla Stan translated as old town, and it is indeed a well-preserved old town with many stores, pubs and restaurants in the area. It is also representing one of the island in stockholm’s archipelago. In our morning wandering walking along the Gamla Stan area, we stucked at Bröd & Salt – a bakery. Eventhough we already had our breakfast, but the cold almost freezing morning made us entering this bakery and bought some bread plus cookies! =))

8

this was nice!!

Okey, we got fuel enough, let’s move on! From Gamla Stan we continued walking to Södermalm (island), overlooking the Stockholm’s City Hall -the place in where the Nobel Prize award ceremony and dinner banquet held every year on December 10th.

2

the bridge(s) we had to cross from gamla stan to sodermalm

3

I believe this is the famous spot to catch the perfect shot of Stockholm’s City Hall. Unfortunately it was misty yet cloudy morning, thus the City Hall was almost perfectly coverred by the mist 😦

4

dont get it wrong. The city hall is the building on the left, not the right one! 😛

It was cold. We believed we need coffe, besides we’re also planning to join a free walking tour. So, we were back to Gamla Stan and stop by in a cafe. My friend -Fita- bought her coffee tumbler in this cafe, with a fantastic price -for sure! =))

5

a well-design coffeshop, actually..

Free Walking Tour in Stockholm

I have walked several routes of free walking tour in Jakarta. This was giving me an idea to search free walking tour in other countries. I found it in Stockholm. Luckily my friends agreed to join this free walking tour. We do not need to pay for the guide, but if we satisfied enough with him/her, just left him/here some tips. Fair enough, right? 🙂

Once arranged the itinerary, we decided to join the free walking tour stockholm. As per their website, they walk everyday at 10.00 AM for Stockholm City route. So then, here we were at 10.00 AM in the meeting point, in which happened just outside that well-design coffeeshop 😀

6

the guy in green jacket was our tour guide!

From this tour I understand, why this city was not that clean as I was expected. Turned out they changed waste in to energy! Alright -good shot, Sto!

10

This is Prästgatan, translated as the Priest’s Street, stretching from a cul-de-sac west of the Royal Palace to the street Österlånggatan in the southern corner of the Gamla Stan. Also, this is the only alley in Gamla Stan in which has no stores in it.

7

We also stopped here: Fox Beggar Statue! Fox mommy with bear kid, represents how the environmental condition now a days!! The fox lost their home and became homeless as the forest they used to live is destroyed! (source: Fita)

Eventhough it was gloomy, but we did enjoy the tour. It finished sometimes after 12 o’clock. From the ending point, we walked to the Royal Palace and expected for a changing the guard ceremony. Unfortunately we did not that lucky. Not sure, whether we were too late, or they just did not do it at that time. Well, just found one reason to come back to Stockholm, right? 🙂

So then, we just across the road, find a seat and ate our lunch! Hungry hungry!! =P

9

my lunch with a view! 🙂

20

each of us with our own lunch box! haha!

Fueled up, our next destination is Östermalms Saluhall!

Östermalms Saluhall

Östermalms Saluhall is actually a food court in Östermalm area -another island of Stockholm’s archipelago. Well, eventhough we just finished our lunch, did not mean we could not go to the famous food court in the city, right? 😛

On the way to the saluhall we stopped by in the Swedish Royal Dramatic Theatre (shorted as Dramaten). There is a statue in the corner of the building, called Margaret Krook statue -a Swedish wellknown actress. Rumors said, if you rub her belly along with her nose your dream will be granted! Fact is her belly was warm, eventhough the surrounding was cold. They said, her belly is always warm at 37degC -a normal human body temperature.

11

me, rubbing Margaret Krook’s belly and nose! 😛

12

okay, enough with the statue, let’s go straight to saluhall

Finally we arrived in saluhall. Gratefully i just finished my lunch, so did not that interesting to buy sooo many yummilicious-look yet sumptuous foods!

13

inside the Östermalms Saluhall

14

15

16

.. to a very tempting fresh salads..

17

..various kind of cheese..

19

..fresh baked bread..

18

..even norwegian crab!!

Everything is just good (and expensive!!) in here. Ohya, there is also Vete-Katen bakery in here. We bought the famous princess cake of sweden here.

21

just outside the building, there was a seller of various berries with affordable price 😀

22

let’s take a break before heading to the next place!

Moderna Museet

Our final destination for today was Moderna Museet. It is actually an art museum. None of us interested in art actually, but since it is free and located in skeppsholmen -one of the island in stockholm’s archipelago, then there we went..!

23

the bridge towards skeppsholmen with a king crown on it, overlooking the stockholm’s city over the sea..! Georgeus!!

24

i think autumn season should has been started already -as it was late september. But the trees were still greeniesss..

25

but, once arrived in moderna museet, i finally found the autumn color! just in front of the museum!!

27

welcome note at moderna museet

Well, at least in moderna museet i found my favorite autumn color *was definitely a happy camper*, also an unisex toilet -for free! Am still feeling awkward for that unisex toilet though..

Alright, enough a journey for a day. We were tired. Let’s go back to the hostel..zzzz..!!
